Waiting on a Truck Repair in Matthews, NC? Use Our Driver Lounge

By Truck Pit Stop Team3 min read

Waiting on a truck repair is part of the job, but sitting in the cab in a shop parking lot shouldn’t be. At Truck Pit Stop in Matthews, NC, customers wait in our driver lounge while we work on their truck.

Waiting on a truck repair? Use the time

Most of our repairs are finished the same day, which usually means a few hours of waiting. The lounge is set up so those hours count for something. There’s a washer and dryer, so you can get laundry done before you’re back on the road. There’s a microwave for your own food, free coffee and bottled water, and free Wi-Fi if you need to handle paperwork, call dispatch or plan the next load.

A place to actually rest

The lounge has a leather sectional, a big wall-mounted TV and air conditioning, which matters in a North Carolina summer. There’s a restroom just for drivers, separate from the one our staff uses. It is a quiet room off the shop floor, so you are not standing around the bays while the work gets done. If the job runs long, you can stretch out on the couch instead of trying to sleep sitting up in the seat.

A simple plan for the wait

  • Start laundry first. Put a load in the washer as soon as you sit down, and it will be dry about the time the truck is.
  • Call dispatch with a real time. Once we have looked at the truck, we give you an estimate. Pass it on so your next load can be planned around it.
  • Catch up on paperwork. The Wi-Fi is free, and there is a table to work at.
  • Eat a proper meal. Bring your own food and heat it in the microwave.
  • Rest. A couch in an air-conditioned room is better than a hot cab.

Before you drop the truck off

The less time we spend guessing, the less time you spend waiting on a truck repair. Before you come in, write down any fault codes or warning lights, when the problem happens (cold start, climbing a grade, at idle), and any parts that were replaced recently. Hand that to us at the counter. It helps us pick the right test first, and that is often the difference between a short wait and a long one.

Who the lounge is for

The lounge is for customers while their truck is with us, during shop hours: Monday to Friday 8:00 AM to 7:00 PM and Saturday 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM. We are closed Sunday.

Tell us your timeline at drop-off

If you’re working against your hours of service or a delivery appointment, say so when you drop the truck off. We’ll give you a realistic estimate for the repair, and if a part has to be special-ordered you’ll know right away, not after you’ve been sitting for half the day. That way you can decide whether to wait in the lounge, take a 10-hour break, or make other plans.
