Truck Repair Prices in Matthews, NC

Here is how Truck Pit Stop prices semi truck and trailer repair, how mobile calls are billed, and what moves the final number. A flat price quoted for a job nobody has looked at is how drivers end up with surprise invoices.

How we price a repair

  1. Diagnose first. A mechanic inspects the truck or trailer, pulls fault codes where it applies, and confirms the real cause. We do not price off a symptom or a dash code.

  2. Written estimate before work. You get a written estimate listing labor, parts and anything sent out, like welding. Nothing starts until you approve it.

  3. You approve, we repair. Most jobs are finished the same day. Parts-ordered or late-arrival jobs are finished first thing the next business morning. Timing is confirmed after inspection.

  4. Invoice matches the estimate. If we find something extra once the job is open, we stop and call you before adding it.

Shop labor rate

Shop labor is billed at $100 per hour for work in our bays in Matthews, from a brake job to a transmission pull. Diagnostic time is billed at the same rate; there is no separate diagnostic menu price. Diagnostic labor is credited toward the repair when you approve the estimate and have the work done here.

Mobile and roadside calls

Our mobile and roadside service is billed in two tiers:

  • Quick calls, like a jump start, have no labor minimum. You pay for the time it takes.

  • Repairs on mobile calls have a 2-hour labor minimum. If a mechanic performs a repair at your yard, dock or the shoulder, labor is billed at a minimum of two hours even if the fix goes faster.

Travel to the truck is quoted when you call. If the problem can be narrowed down first, remote diagnostics may save you the service call.

Parts

We fit dealer-genuine OEM parts for Freightliner, Peterbilt, Kenworth, Volvo, Mack, International and Western Star, billed at the cost of the part and listed on the estimate. Used semi and trailer tires are sold as-is with the tread depth written on your invoice. Customer-supplied parts are accepted at the shop’s discretion and carry no parts warranty.

What affects the final price

  • Diagnosis time. An intermittent electrical fault takes longer to chase than a seized brake chamber, and labor is billed on actual time.

  • Parts availability. A common part is on the shelf or at the dealer the same day. A part for an older engine may need ordering, which adds a day, not labor.

  • When the truck arrives. A truck that rolls in late in the day may not be finished until the next business morning, which matters if a driver is waiting.

  • Hidden damage. A broken leaf spring often means worn hangers too. We show you before adding anything.

FAQ

Do you charge for a diagnostic?

Yes. Diagnostic time is billed at the $100 per hour shop labor rate, and the time depends on the problem. A code pull and visual check is quick; an intermittent wiring fault is not. If you approve the repair, the diagnostic labor is credited toward the job.

Can you give me a price over the phone?

We can tell you the labor rate and how we bill, but not a repair total. Pricing a job before a mechanic has seen the truck gives wrong numbers in both directions. Bring it in or call for a mobile visit, and you get a written estimate after inspection.

Is the 2-hour minimum charged on every mobile call?

No. Quick calls such as a jump start have no labor minimum and are billed on the time used. The 2-hour labor minimum applies when the mechanic performs a repair at your location, because a mobile repair ties up a truck and a mechanic for the trip out and back.

Do you mark up parts?

No. Dealer-genuine OEM parts are billed at the cost of the part, and each one appears as its own line on your estimate and invoice. Used tires are sold as-is with the tread depth written on the invoice so you know what you bought.

How do I pay and when?

Payment is due when the truck is released, and we accept cards, cash and fleet payment methods. Fleet accounts can ask about terms. If you need the invoice emailed to a dispatcher or fleet manager, tell the front desk at drop-off.
