Semi Truck Engine Diagnostics & Repair Near Charlotte

Truck Pit Stop provides semi-truck engine diagnosis, repair, rebuilds and overhauls at our Matthews shop near Charlotte. Our on-site engine specialist performs rebuild and overhaul work in-house. Tell us about power loss, overheating, smoke, leaks, unusual noise or hard starting. We inspect the engine before recommending component repair, a rebuild or an overhaul, and explain the scope and estimate before work begins.
We Start With What the Truck Is Doing
Tell us when the problem started, what the driver noticed and when it happens. We use that information with fault history, operating data and hands-on testing before recommending parts.
Overheating and Fluid Problems
We check coolant and oil condition, visible leaks, temperatures, hoses, radiator and fan operation, based on the symptoms we find.
Power Loss, Smoke and Hard Starts
For semi truck engine repair, we test the fuel, air, boost, electrical, sensor, starting and aftertreatment systems connected to the complaint instead of assuming the engine needs major internal work.
We Explain the Repair Before Starting
We show you what we found, what needs attention, the estimated parts and labor, and the expected timing. After the repair, we recheck the original problem when practical.

How We Handle Semi Truck Engine Repair

When a truck comes in with an engine problem, we start with the driver’s description: what happened, when it started and the conditions when it shows up. We review the fault history and operating data, then inspect the systems connected to the symptom.Depending on what the truck is doing, our technicians may check fluids, visible leaks, cooling-system operation, fuel and air delivery, boost components, starting and charging performance, sensors, wiring and related aftertreatment faults. A fault code points us in a direction, but it does not tell us by itself which part to replace. We handle semi truck engine repair for Volvo, Freightliner, Peterbilt, Kenworth, Mack and International trucks at our Matthews shop near Charlotte. Once we find the cause, we explain what needs to be repaired, the parts and labor estimate, and the expected timing before you approve the work.We can review fault information remotely to help decide the next step, but major engine problems still require hands-on testing. Mobile preliminary diagnostics are available Monday through Friday, 8 a.m.–7 p.m., and Saturday, 9 a.m.–1 p.m., within approximately 50 miles, depending on technician availability and shop workload. Mobile service is $350 per call plus $160 per labor hour (no minimum for quick calls like a jump start; 2-hour labor minimum for repairs such as a tire or alternator replacement).Repairs that require shop equipment must be completed at our Matthews location. We can arrange towing through an independent third-party provider. Warranty applies to parts supplied and installed by Truck Pit Stop; customer-provided parts are not covered for parts or labor.

Questions Drivers Ask About Engine Repair

What symptoms indicate a need for semi truck engine repair or diagnosis?

Call us for semi truck engine repair when the truck has recurring warning lights, power loss, overheating, abnormal smoke, hard starting, rough running, unusual noise, rising fluid use, or visible oil or coolant leaks. Stop driving if continuing could damage the truck or create an unsafe condition.

How does Truck Pit Stop diagnose a heavy-duty engine problem?

We start with what the driver experienced and the conditions when it happened. We then review fault history and operating data and test the cooling, fuel, air, boost, starting, charging, sensor, wiring or aftertreatment systems connected to the symptom.

Does an engine fault code identify the exact repair?

No. A fault code tells us what condition the truck detected, but not necessarily which part failed. We compare the code with hands-on testing before recommending parts. You can separately use the NHTSA VIN recall lookup to check for open manufacturer safety recalls.

Which heavy-duty truck brands do you service?

We work on Volvo, Freightliner, Peterbilt, Kenworth, Mack and International heavy-duty trucks. What we can complete and how quickly depends on the model, engine, problem and parts availability.

Can mobile or remote diagnostics complete an engine repair?

Remote review can help us decide the next step, and a mobile technician may be able to perform preliminary testing or a practical roadside repair. Internal engine work and repairs requiring shop equipment must be completed at our Matthews shop.

How long will semi truck engine repair take and what will it cost?

Timing and cost depend on what failed, access to the component, required parts and current shop capacity. We explain what we found, the recommended repair, the parts and labor estimate, and the expected completion time before you authorize the work. Same-day completion is not guaranteed.
